Born in Montreal, Quebec, Gilles Dufort joined the PGA of Canada back in 1978 where he launched his golf management career and worked at three different clubs before deciding to relocating to British Columbia in 1984. He spent two seasons at the Whistler Golf Club, before joining Capilano Golf & Country Club in January 1986 for three seasons.
Gilles then returned to the Whistler Golf Club in the capacity of Director of Golf for the 1989 golf season until the fall of 1989 when he was appointed in the same capacity at University Golf Club.
He remained at UGC until 1994, joining The Harvest Golf Club as the first Head Professional in its inaugural year. In 1995, he was provided the opportunity to become the General Manager at The Harvest and performed both positions for the following 10 years.
Gilles has served on the PGA of BC board of directors on two different occasions, including a term as President in 1999/2000. He also served on multiple committee and boards, notably with the Okanagan Golf Alliance, Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association and the BDC.
Gilles is the co-founder and trustee of The Sandman Harvest Celebrity Golf Classic that has raised in excess of $1.2 million for local charities benefiting ill and under privileged children in the Okanagan. Following the completion of this tournament, Gilles got involved with Kelowna Futures Tennis over the next 7 years.
Gilles latest project is the replacement of a fully state of the art integrated irrigation system. Beginning in 2023 scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2025. This unique project will take The Harvest Golf Club to the next level of conditioning and customer service experience.
Over the last 31 years, golf clubs he has been affiliated with have been nominated and received multiple awards for service and operational excellence. Gilles has personally been nominated for Head Professional of the Year by the PGA of BC on three separate occasions, receiving the award in 1994.
At 7,109 yards, The Harvest is a championship-length layout designed by renowned Canadian golf course architect Graham Cooke. The name of our club is inspired by the many fruit trees that still dot the course and add to its splendor and a-peel - pun intended!
